Director of Enrollment Management, Education Abroad

We’re hiring a Director of Enrollment Management, Education Abroad, a leadership role that brings together the full student journey into education abroad.

From the first point of contact with a prospective student through enrollment and departure, this position will provide strategic leadership across marketing and recruitment, advising, admissions, student services, scholarships, and enrollment.

And the scale is significant: this is a university-wide role serving the entire Indiana University system, not just one campus.

IU Education Abroad supports international experiences for approximately 5,500 students each year. This leader will help us think strategically about how we grow participation, strengthen the student experience, improve the path from interest to enrollment, and expand access to global learning opportunities for students across IU.

Responsibilities

• Leads the education abroad enrollment funnel from a student's 1st point of interest through successful program enrollment and departure, ensuring a seamless, student-centered experience while advancing IU's participation and enrollment goals.
• Reports to the Associate Vice President (AVP) and serving as a member of the Education Abroad management team.
• Helps shape unit strategy, strengthens operational effectiveness, develops and supports high-performing teams, and provides collaborative leadership that aligns staff around shared priorities and IU's broader commitment to expanding access to transformative global learning opportunities.
• Provides strategic leadership for Education Abroad marketing, outreach, and student recruitment. Develops, implements, and assesses recruitment strategies designed to expand student engagement, strengthen the enrollment funnel, improve conversion and yield, and achieve participation goals.
• Works collaboratively with IU Global Marketing and Communications and campus partners to ensure coordinated, compelling, and effective outreach across the university.
• Leads IU's system-wide education abroad advising function and professional advising team, ensuring students receive timely, accurate, and high-quality guidance as they explore and prepare for global learning opportunities.
• Establishes advising priorities, practices, and service standards that support student success, broaden participation, and respond effectively to continued enrollment growth.
• Leads IU's system-wide education abroad admissions, enrollment, student services, and scholarship functions and associated professional staff. Ensures efficient and student-centered processes from application through departure, with particular attention to operational excellence, timely communication, enrollment conversion, scholarship administration, and successful student preparation for participation abroad.
• Builds and leads high-performing advising and student services teams through effective recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision, coaching, and professional development.
• Establishes clear goals and expectations, fosters collaboration and accountability, develops staff capacity, and creates an environment in which team members are empowered to innovate, grow professionally, and collectively advance the mission and strategic priorities of IU Education Abroad.
