Hollins University, a private, liberal arts university in Roanoke, Virginia that is recognized as one of the oldest institutions of higher education for women in the United States, invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Director of Global Learning.
About the Role
As one of the pioneers in U.S. higher education to offer its students overseas study opportunities, Hollins University has a long and rich history of global education beginning with the creation of Hollins Abroad Paris in the 1950s and Hollins Abroad London in the 1970s. This pioneering spirit laid the foundation for the future expansion of exceptional study-abroad opportunities ensuring global learning remains a signature of the university’s academic experience. This continued commitment is evident in the comprehensive academic renewal plan currently being implemented that centers experiential learning as a core pillar for student learning and success.
Building upon this strong foundation, the Director of Global Learning provides overall leadership for and operational management of the Global Learning Hub and its services. In an environment where the university serves an increasingly diverse population of students, including high percentages of first-generation college students, Pell-eligible students, and students of color, the Director is expected to serve as an advocate for education abroad across campus and to identify ways to engage more students in global learning. Under the leadership of the Associate Provost for Curriculum and Faculty Engagement and working in close collaboration with campus partners, the Director of Global Learning joins Hollins at an important juncture for integrating education abroad into the academic renewal plan and strategically leveraging available resources to expand global partnerships to maximize opportunities for students.
