Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Director, Study Abroad, is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and support of global education at UT San Antonio, including study abroad and study away programs. The position leads program development, planning, and implementation of processes and procedures to efficiently implement the mission.
Core Responsibilities
- Provides strategic leadership and manages a growing study abroad team to develop, plan, and support all global education, including study abroad programs.
- Leads risk mitigation efforts and crisis management on UT San Antonio-led programs. Assists the Assistant Vice Provost, Global Iniatives and Vice Provost with problems, emergencies, and other relevant issues as they arise.
- Supports the Assistant Vice Provost, Global Initiatives in developing and implementing faculty-led, short-term exchange, provider programs and provides high-impact international experiences to students, while building relationships with host program coordinators, students, parents, and faculty.
- Manages the study abroad team, develops and implements with the team innovative approaches to global study.
- Approaches global education opportunities (study abroad, study away) to make opportunities more accessible to all, especially those traditionally underrepresented in global education programs.
- Initiates and executes outreach initiatives and recruits faculty and staff to lead international students programs.
- Serves as the main point of contact for all UT San Antonio faculty and staff leading international programs and provides support with education abroad life cycle activities as needed.
- Implements more efficient processes to grow and scale impact.
- Interacts directly with foreign universities, exchange partners, third-party program providers, and other entities that host students and faculty abroad.
- Oversees marketing for study abroad programs, including Global Study Center, Italy, including digital media as well as website design and maintenance.
- Collaborates with the team to advise and train both internal and external stakeholders, oversees faculty/leader training, and communicates policies and procedures to program directors and faculty.
- Ensures that study abroad program directors and instructors understand timelines and risk mitigation.
- Maintains effective, collaborative working relationships with the Fiscal Affairs, Enrollment, Financial Aid, Scholarship, and Risk Management Offices, respectively, to help resolve related student and program issues affecting students studying abroad.
- Ensures all university students and faculty receive outstanding study abroad advising services, and are in compliance with all federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Oversees the creation of monthly reports and routine audits to ensure all compliance standards are in compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Five (5) years of related work experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent public speaking, presentation and writing skills are essential, along with managerial, organizational, and administrative skills; high level of self-sufficiency; personal and professional knowledge of international education best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Tact, diplomacy and judgment necessary in dealing with others.
- Must be able to balance competing priorities and manage work cycles that are tied to the admissions calendar and includes intense work times.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.

- Office Environment - Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events..
Physical Demands
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional.
This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
