The Education Abroad Office is accepting applications for an Education Abroad Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Education Abroad and responsible for managing student-service functions associated with a portfolio of education abroad programs, including oversight of student-facing functions and Education Abroad office duties (such as checking email, managing social media accounts, etc.).

  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and university officials
  • Ability to travel locally, nationally, and internationally
  • Personal initiative and the ability to be flexible in work schedules and assignments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Two (2) or more years experience in Education Abroad/International Education/Global Setting
  • Experience living or traveling abroad

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Advises East Tennessee State University students who wish to participate in study abroad programs and complies with registration, course approval, and academic transfer credit requirements
  • Manages the approval process of students' study abroad programs which includes maintenance of course database and required forms for study abroad
  • Oversees information sessions for students interested in studying abroad
  • Conducts pre-departure orientations and provides re-entry support
  • Manages education abroad student recruitment, advising, applications and approvals, materials/forms, policy compliance, preparation, and student support
  • Coordinates the student-facing sides of direct enrollment organizations and institutional partnerships
  • Organizes events such as the Study Abroad Fair and/or International Education Week activities and participates in campus-wide events
  • Trains and supervises temporary employees and/or student workers, and coordinates student ambassadors
  • Performs other duties, such as leading and serving on committees, liaising with ETSU offices and assisting the Director with management of study abroad scholarships
