The College of Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis is looking for a versatile and experienced leader and strategic partner to direct and oversee the Office of Overseas Programs. The Director of Global Education (Job ID JR88903) advances the College’s mission to support undergraduate student engagement in meaningful intercultural and international academic experiences that enable the acquisition of broad cultural knowledge, languages, and skills to participate fully in a global society.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and oversight of the Office of Overseas Programs activities and personnel.
  • Lead, in conjunction with the Vice Dean of Undergraduate Affairs and other A&S leaders, the development of the strategic direction of the Office of Overseas Programs in the context of the global priorities of the university and Arts & Sciences, institutional and student needs, and best practices in the field of international education.
  • Formulate, implement, and oversee health, safety, and risk management plans for Overseas Programs and collaborate on university-wide plans with other Washington university units.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with partner institutions and study abroad program providers.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Five years of experience in international education.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: academic advising, academic affairs, academic collaboration, confidentiality, effective written communication, emergency response and crisis management, experiential education, operational leadership, oral presentation, problem solving, program evaluations, program implementation, risk management, stakeholder communications, strategic direction, strategy development, strategy implementation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience living, studying, or working abroad.
  • PhD or terminal degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education.
