Gateway is seeking a part-time, Director of Marketing and Communications who will join a growing team of professionals committed to next generation international higher education. Reporting to Gateway’s Director of Operations, the person will generally commit 25-35 hours per week to overseeing all aspects of Gateway’s marketing and communications efforts. This position will help to create, manage and implement a robust communications and marketing strategy for Gateway. Specific assignments will be determined on an individual’s background and qualifications, career interests and professional skills, but general duties broadly involve:
− Graphic Design. Facilitate the creation of visually appealing graphics for marketing materials such as social media posts, banners, brochures, presentations, and advertisements. Collaborate with external vendors for outsourced design projects to ensure brand consistency and quality.
− Website & Brand Management. In collaboration with Gateway’s website management company, oversee Gateway's website functionality, responsiveness, and user experience. Update website content regularly and implement SEO best practices for improved search engine rankings. Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels.
− Digital Marketing & Social Media Strategy. Develop and execute digital marketing campaigns including SEO, SEM, social media, and email marketing. Create and share compelling content tailored for different platforms to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
− Event & Resources Management. Plan and execute Gateway events and promotional campaigns. Develop marketing materials to drive attendance and engagement. Manage Gateway Resources including newsletter, blog, podcast, job board, and provider directory.
− Project Management & Budgeting. Collaborate with project managers to plan and budget for document creation, graphic design, and webpage development. Ensure marketing projects stay on schedule and within budget, making cost-effective decisions while maintaining brand quality and consistency.
− Team Leadership. Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of marketing and communication professionals. Set clear goals, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback.
− Reporting & Communication. Provide leadership with regular updates on marketing strategy, performance metrics, and key initiatives using data-driven insights. Deliver quarterly reports on analytics, engagement trends, and areas for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Director must be a highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter who takes ownership of Gateway’s marketing and communication strategy. They should have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills to ensure accuracy and professionalism in all materials. The ideal candidate will exhibit a commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining brand integrity while ensuring all marketing efforts align with Gateway’s mission. They must also possess business savvy, graphic design expertise, and strong decision-making skills to function effectively under pressure. This position requires sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in managing client relations and business development.
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, marketing, fine arts, journalism, public relations, media, or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional experience in an international higher education context with marketing and promotion, website development, design, advertising, social media, etc.
- Proficiency with website design, graphic design, Mailchimp, Hubspot, Google Apps suite, WordPress, etc.
- Demonstrated experience using Gateway’s social media platforms (i.e., Linkedin, Youtube, X).
- Professional experience with effective client relations and business development.

- Knowledge of multiple languages and previous international education experience.
- Cultural sensitivity and an appreciation of people and cultures from around the world.
