BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Global Initiatives, implement and manage the University of Rhode Island’s (URI) international admissions, enrollment and recruitment strategy for Graduate and Undergraduate students. Engage in unit level strategic planning, evaluation, and implementation of best practices in international recruitment and international admissions processes. Ensure compliance and coordination with institutional practice and coordination with key stakeholders in supporting enrollment and student success goals.

   
Required Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership:
    • Work closely with the Vice Provost of Global Initiatives to develop, manage and implement international recruitment strategies aligned with the university’s enrollment goals.
    • Set policy and guidelines for international recruitment practices and evaluation.

 


Recruitment Operations:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the international recruitment team for Graduate and Undergraduate students.
  • Lead outreach efforts by representing URI at global recruitment events and fairs.
  • Assess current practices and make recommendations to the Vice Provost with regard to the value of all recruitment and yield activities.
  • Support and develop reporting and evaluation of strategic recruiting efforts.

Admission Coordination:
  • Oversee the evaluation of international applications, credentials, and ensure compliance with university policies and all other applicable regulations.

Partnership Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with recruitment partners or contractors, and vet potential new partnerships.
  • Develop data-driven strategies and initiatives to support strategic international recruitment and enrollment goals.

Communication and Outreach:
  • Respond to inquiries about programs, admission, scholarships, and campus resources.
  • Support marketing efforts by assisting in the creation of promotional materials.
  • Serve as a liaison to campus communications and marketing collaborations.

Team Collaboration:
  • Lead and train staff, fostering a collaborative environment that aligns recruitment activities with university-wide objectives.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of the Office of International Students, Scholars, and Immigration Services to ensure international student success throughout the student lifecycle. Coordinate with Graduate and Undergraduate Admission Offices and other campus stakeholders.

Budget & Resource Management:
  • Prepare and monitor relevant operating budgets for recruitment activities.

Travel:
  • Conduct international travel for recruitment activities, as needed.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned.

LICENSESTOOLSAND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers and printers; word processing, database management, spreadsheet software. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
 
REQUIRED:

1. Master’s degree in higher education administration or related field.

2. Minimum of five years of experience in international recruitment, admission, or related field in a higher education setting.

3. Demonstrated experience with best practices in international student recruitment, visa requirements, and admission processes and their implementation.

4. Demonstrated understanding of foreign educational credential systems.

5. Demonstrated supervisory experience including the ability to lead a team-based unit.

6. Demonstrated experience in directing a strategic international recruitment strategy.

7. Demonstrated progressive leadership roles.

8. Demonstrated experience effectively working with agent relationships.

9. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

10. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

11. Demonstrated experience managing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and data management and reporting tools.

12. Willingness to travel.

13. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

14. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations including a range of international populations with appropriate cultural understanding.


PREFERRED:

1. Demonstrated fluency (speaking, reading, writing) in a language other than English.

2. Demonstrated experience working with marketing strategies and marketing teams.

3. Demonstrated experience with data systems and data driven reporting tools; and Demonstrated experience with Slate.
