The Associate Director serves as the primary study abroad advisor and program manager for full-year, semester, and short-term programs abroad. This includes management and coordination of a portfolio of internships, service-learning, provider, and direct-enroll programs. This position guides students from program selection through enrollment and provides support throughout the student visa process, during the term abroad, and upon return to Siena College.

The Associate Director is charged with promoting study abroad through engaging students, including prospective students - via digital outreach and social media, and via direct engagement through information sessions and panels, and by hosting partner university representatives. This person leads all study abroad events hosted throughout the academic year.

This position coordinates communication with all students going abroad, including designing and running pre-departure orientation, and maintaining and updating systems to track student participation in study abroad. They also advise students on undergraduate scholarship opportunities such as the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship, the Critical Language Scholarship, and Douglass Global Fellowships among others.

The Associate Director works with the Director in the general administration, assessment, and expansion of the College's study abroad programs and campus internationalization efforts.

Annual Salary: $63,410.00

Job Requirements

• Master's Degree
• Three or more years of relevant experience
• In-depth knowledge of international education administration / study abroad programs
• Ability to interact with culturally diverse groups of people
• Significant international experience of living and/or travel abroad, plus foreign language
• Participation in more than one study abroad program as student or administrator
• First-hand knowledge of more than one region outside of the US
• Training in cross-cultural issues
• Familiarity with higher education systems in other countries
• Very strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to keep calm while handling stressful situations and make decisions quickly in
regard to overseas emergencies
• A background screening will be required.
