Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Executive Director of Bing Overseas Studies Program

Heralded as a hub of undergraduate innovation, the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) creates and sustains meaningful interactions between students and faculty both within and outside the classroom. As a collaborative team member of VPUE, you have a unique opportunity to advance and support programs that touch and enhance the lives of every undergraduate student at Stanford.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) is seeking an Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Executive Director of Bing Overseas Studies Program (BOSP) with a primary role of providing leadership and strategic direction for BOSP programs that embody Stanford’s commitment to liberal education and experiential learning. The BOSP unit includes a home office on Stanford’s main campus and nine global centers (Berlin, Cape Town, Florence, Kyoto, Madrid, New York, Oxford, Paris, and Santiago). BOSP also operates short-term faculty-led seminars during the summer in various locations and offers quarter-length programs in Australia, Hong Kong, and Istanbul via partnership agreements with local universities. Nearly half of all undergraduates study abroad during their time at Stanford.

In this role, you will work closely with BOSP’s faculty director, global and home office staff, and campus partners to set and advance BOSP’s mission to provide academically excellent programs and transformative educational experiences in global settings. The Executive Director (ED) plays a key role in aligning the work and goals between the global centers and home office, creating a sense of united purpose and mission and ensuring effective support and collaboration. The ED reports to the BOSP Faculty Director with a dotted line to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and oversees an operating budget of $24 million (across multiple currencies) and a team of approximately 65 staff (global and domestic) with direct management of three staff in the home office. While the global directors report to the faculty director, the ED is a critical partner to and strategist with the nine global directors in defining and facilitating their local programs and aims with high academic standards and operational excellence.
